
we don’t say woman-child because women are assumed to be the ones taking care of children. calling someone a man child is saying he isn’t self sufficient, thinks the world revolves around him, and importantly, expects the women in his life to look after him like a child. and it’s much much less socially acceptable for women to act this way and much less common as a result
Oh that’s actually satire most of the time. It’s a joke about how women are infantilized in situations where it suits men (like she couldn’t possibly be a nuclear engineer she’s just a girl) but expected to take the full responsibilities of being an adult when it doesn’t suit men . It’s basically a callout of systemic hypocrisy.
