Coming to the brutal conclusion people with extreme anxiety problems make poor parents. If you can barely manage your own anxiety maybe you’re not fit to be a parent

Also can lead to them developing obsessive or controlling behavior as well as them filling their children with their own fears and anxieties. I can say from experience doesn’t lead to the happiest adjustment to adulthood

True, though I’ve gotten my fair share of mental health problems, I still function as a fairly normal person. Just a little aspie at times. You also should probably tell ur kids cause some genes can play into that. But there are plenty of people I see who aren’t even self aware of their own mental wellbeing

My parents told me I wasn’t depressed—just lazy for like 4 years before i took anything. Meanwhile my mom has anxiety issues and never thought to tell us it might also happen to me and my sister. I mean we’re both beyond average in intelligence… but at the cost of everything that manifested from childhood ocd.

I’m not a parent and don’t plan on it currently. Just reflecting my own childhood and those I knew growing up. Being told to be afraid of and dread anything new isn’t healthy or good. Being told to always expect the worst and never take risks or put yourself out there is bad. It definitely developmentally stunted me in areas and despite growing from it I’m still impacted

It has damaged my family unit in various ways. I wouldn’t call them happy people. It’s led to my brother giving up on doing anything with his life and being afraid to ever leave the house. My dad admitted he never wanted children either so it’s all around awful. He’s the one with the most anxiety
