I mean, it also does depend what you want to do with your life, general nursing is oversaturated but stuff like chemo, trauma and surgical are in very much need

L&D is also great but the birth rate is also dropping so while yes i recommend it if you like it, it’ll also be in less demand because fewer pregnancies

like chemo is unfortunately very common and so are traumas and so is surgical and you can also help with L&D surgeries as well

Wait yeah... fuck man 😭 i just want something thats like super organized, community oriented and doesn't require me to be a complete expert everything. I dont think im smart or level headed enough to be a doctor tbh

for chemo, it’s medication administration along with symptom analysis for like vomiting and reactions but if you are a woman i don’t recommend because the radiation will still seep through the bag and mess up fertility, i’d rather be honest with you because those nurses really find it hard to get pregnant

if you’re honestly looking for community and organized then surgical is your best bet, trauma is too much running around and you won’t have time to breathe and you’ll have surgical techs and surgeons to fall back onto so they like become your friends

Oh shit 😟 i would def do that but only after i am 100% sure i dont want kids. I already had a medical issue which reduced my chances of fertility when i was younger so I'm not sure that route is for me. But that's super interesting because that means nurses (primarily women) are literally risking their own health and fertility to help others

My mom just got a job in day surgery after doing lots of other kinds of nursing and NPing and she said its the best job ever so im really hoping i can get into that

this is why technicians and nurses normally aren’t in that field for a very long time because it increases your risk of developing cancer yourself, and it drastically also messes up fertility, which is why most of the nurses that are in it either already had kids or don’t want kids in general, it also affects men, but just not as much (chemo is sexist fr)

if your mom is a nurse practitioner, I really wonder why she went to surgery after doing that because yes, you can only prescribe under a doctor but it’s usually the better part of nursing because instead of helping with the treatments you can actually be the one to start a certain treatment

i wasn’t saying L&D isn’t amazing i’m just saying the birth rates are going down so therefore it might be hard to find a job in the future
