does anyone know whether queerness used to be considered a relationship structure rather than an identity?

I mean in Ancient Greece, there were homosexual relationships which often among troops and trainees I think. And it was very normal for those same men to have heterosexual relationships outside the military, not that they always did, some were homosexual regardless, of course. It wasn’t considered part of your identity to engage in homosexual activities, since it wasn’t socially enforced to identify as one sexuality or another. It was just more of a thing you do if you want to

Making a generalization, it was considered queer or transgressive based on relationship, as they viewed homosexuality as an act going against your nature. In western culture, only recently has it been considered an identity
