No, the bill itself was to lower the cost of housing, THAT is what both sides wanted. Trump didn’t want to sign that bill, but instead wanted to piggyback off of it and use a loophole that essentially makes it so that women and minority groups are no longer legally allowed to vote if their name does not match their birth certificate (example; married women who took their husband’s name)

Not sure why anyone would think that an act restricting voting would be a smart idea. Furthermore, Trump throwing a tantrum and refusing to pass other bills until he can mess with one of the most fundamental rights in our democracy is not a good look for republicans who support him
