Professional porn is utterly revolting and I don’t trust anyone who regularly consumes it

the only porn that’s somewhat decent is amateur/self made bc at least they want to make it but even then it’s iffy bc you don’t really know if they had any other choice/their partner wanted to do it as much vs being pushed into it/if it’s actually amateur/if it’s sex trafficking. there’s no real ethical way to consume porn

I like how this implies that consuming adult content magically makes you untrustworthy. As if you’re suddenly a bad actor for doing it. 🤡

It’s funny cause the recent mass hysteria about it was stirred up by and on behalf of onlyfans types & other sex workers for purely competitive reasons. That is; when all the porn a person could ever consume is already available for free, their niche is crowded Kinda reminds me of the bootleggers railing against the evils of liquor and pushing prohibition through Congress lol

Consuming content in which women are regularly beaten/degraded and their pain eroticized, where consent before engaging in sexual acts is framed as optional (at best), where extremely young-looking teenagers are fetishized as “barely legal,” AND doing so on websites like Pornhub and Xvideos which are *notorious* for hosting CP/revenge porn/actual SA absolutely calls into question your moral character, yes

it’s also that people are realizing that the consumption of porn has serious repercussions on people’s mental health. overconsumption of porn can rewire a persons brain to a point where it’s disordered.

Do you know what a strawman is? I’m not saying op is a prostitute or putting arguments in her mouth, I’m just saying she (like millions) fell for the bootlegger sermons. I remember before this hubbub evolved to “porn is evil” the message was more “support sex workers” and “pay for your porn it’s more ethical”. & its widely pushed on tiktok which promotes prostitution like crazy I actually didn’t know about the vpn thing tho that’s interesting And blaming the Jews is silly. Sex sells? I coulda

thought of that lol. It doesn’t take a secret criminal mastermind conspiracy & it doesn’t matter who happened to own the magazines when photography got really good. In another world, you’d be blaming the Finns

That’s true, and better education about that has long been badly needed. But pay-per-view porn has similar health problems, prostitution has distinct and worse ones, and old fashioned Puritanism causes violence and secrecy (but not necessarily less horniness). I think minimizing the harms of something so ubiquitous, which is done in private anyway & can’t actually be eliminated; is a problem that defies extreme solutions and calls for greater rationality and realism than it’s seen thus far

i don’t think puritanism is the way to go, but i think there needs to be significantly more regulation that goes into porn production. maybe we even just need to go back to only playboys n other magazines n pay per views n get rid of the free websites. unregulated access to things like this is what causes addictions

Well, paywalls wouldn’t erase addiction; just add a financial issue for some. Lots of addictions cost money. Drugs do. Heck, some people are addicted to spending money itself; theres gambling, and I think shopaholicism is even more rampant among women than porn addiction. Emily in Paris should be locked up in smut-Knox vault with the weapons grade stuff while we’re at it lol. Tbh I think the obvious first step is just being more honest in sex ed. Instead of the mixed message of “porn’s harmless

but also totally evil so don’t even think about it😉”, it oughta be more like “we know we can’t stop you but that’s why you need to be conscious of the risks bc if you’re gonna hide this from everyone then only you can fully protect yourself”. Teach them to recognize signs of habit formation and that help exists. I was always WAY more careful when trying things I knew the risks of, like alcohol & weed & whatnot

Well someone sure is on their high horse today… I think most people who consume adult content a.) know that consent isn’t optional, b.) think that things like revenge porn aren’t cool, c.) believe that actual SA isn’t acceptable, and d.) are disgusted by CP. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult and nobody is being exploited. I think it’s stupid that you can give away sex for free but God forbid you film it and make some money. What a joke.

“It”, in this case, being pornography that doesn’t contain the aforementioned things. Before you or anyone else gets any ideas.
