Unfortunately it’s illegal for medical workers to turn anyone away, so no matter how stupid the reason is that they’re there, we HAVE to take them and sometimes it takes me so much to bite my lip instead of saying “you couldn’t have taken a fucking ibuprofen or gone to urgent care????”

Not only are they coming in for stupid reasons, but then they’re confused as to why the bill ends up being so expensive. Like idk man, maybe because you chose to come to an ER

I feel like a majority of people think ERs are constantly filled with dying people due to all the stupid medical/hospital shows , when 80% of people that come in are genuinely just dumbasses coming in for the most minor reasons. Once had a girl come in a for a pregnancy test to make sure she was actually pregnant. This was after she took 13 tests at home that all came back positive. She got hit with a $600 bill just for a pregnancy test.
