$2,375 base rent for “affordable housing” insane. How am I supposed to pay that while making less than 80k a year, plus groceries, utilities, gas, etc???

Rent is CRAZY right now, but so are mortgages. Landlords have to be able to pay the mortgage/taxes/insurance and still make a profit

This isn’t even a private landlord, it’s an apartment complex owned by a billion dollar company

I’d have to know what the going rate of rent is in your area. Just because it’s a big company doesn’t mean rent should be cheaper

Average rent for a one bedroom is about $2,500-2,700 a month

I think the main problem is wages have not kept up with cost of living

After taxes each paycheck paying $2,300 a month in rent is over 50% of my take home pay. You literally cannot get approved for an apartment if you don’t make three times the rent price. My point was that I don’t make enough money for AFFORDABLE HOUSING, how am I ever going to survive?? 80k is not a lot of money today, I’m really grateful for my job but its not enough to keep me from being homeless
