I agree to an extent. Specifically with children who have irresponsible parents who feel them junk. It can get tricky with medical conditions though

I get what you are saying but extremely rarely is because of a medical condition that couldn’t be prevented, and I’m mostly talking about adults, aka anyone not considered a child

Anonymous replying to -> #4 16w

It’s definitely less common to be medical conditions. With adults I usually just feel bad because weight gain can be an effect from mental illness and if you’re not in the right state of mind it can be hard to be motivated to make healthier choices. Nobody enjoys being large, but they still deserve to love themselves.

I think it’s okay to love yourself, but things like body positivity for morbidly obese people is stupid and encourages people to shorten their life. But in my opinion loving yourself includes wanting what’s best for you, and being obese is not how you live yourself ever

I agree. I don’t think it’s good to encourage or enable it, but people being mean about it won’t help anything either.

yea when it’s a kid in that situation where the parents are extremely irresponsible or even neglectful and the kid gets morbidly obese it’s quite similar to when people overfeed their pets and then do nothing about it and treat it like a non issue

people who aren’t young children are a different situation and not equivocal to what this post is saying

Depends on the circumstances. I don’t care if someone is overweight, their life not mine. Still a human being who deserves respect regardless. But when it’s someone taking care of someone who can’t care for themselves or enables it, is when I have a bigger issue with it

Do you think the state should take care of its citizens- encouraging/ enabling healthier lifestyles?

upvote 3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 16w

And also investing in mental health resources in the case that it could be that?

upvote 8 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 16w

I don’t think It necessarily has to be a state thing, it’s not hard to not eat the amount of food a family of 4 can eat in 2 days

upvote 2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 16w

But also a big reason some people don’t eat healthy is due to low income with high expenses, and unfortunately it’s expensive to be healthy, but also even if you eat McDonald’s everyday, you can eat a moderate amount and exercise a bit

Anonymous replying to -> #9 16w

I definitely think there should be more options for people who want to live healthier lifestyles, obviously nothing forced. The individual has to want it for themselves.

upvote 4 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #9 16w

Definitely. The problem is that there are plenty of mental health resources, they just aren’t as accessible to everyone. Food addiction specifically is also something that many may not realize they struggle with nor want to help themselves.

I agree it is 100% America, aside from the food issues, the American culture supports being fat and makes it a socially acceptable thing to barely fit in a car or to only be able to walk a few hundred feet. In other countries their culture/media looks down on those that are obese, here in America its basically encouraged

Anonymous replying to -> #4 16w

And those countries have low obesity rates, while yes the have better access to health care, health care isn’t the issue in its entirety, people are shaped by the environment they grow up in, and unfortunately some people grow up in a really fat pronating environment

Eating one meal a day isn’t the answer, your body will slow your metabolism if you barely eat, and make sure you burn as little fat as possible

upvote 5 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #4 16w

You have to eat smaller amount of good food full of things your body wants

If you eat 3 meals a day of moderate portions and get cardio and or gym time in for a month, I guarantee you’ll lose weight easily

It’s the excuses like ā€œI just am fat and can’t do anything about itā€ that are preventing you from really trying

No human body wants to be 300 pounds

The point is not to not eat, it’s to trick your body into boosting your metabolism so you burn fat and whatnot

I’d imagine they are having a big sub which can easily be 1500 calories, plus maybe chips which is another 300… like dawg, this person does not understand what they are eating, 1 meal a day doesn’t matter if you have 3000k calories in one sitting

upvote 3 downvote

Anonymous 16w

Try eating more but healthier, have a fruit in the morning to kickstart your metabolism, and eat a small amount of food 3 times a day, fruits, veggies, protein rich meat… a sub sandwich is far from what your body wants

Anonymous replying to -> #4 16w

Also from what I’m picking up you do not exercise regularly if at all, which is the best way to burn fat

So basically your lifestyle is what ain’t allowing you to lose weight, not because you can’t, but the choices and circumstances don’t allow it, this is a valid reason that people can understand. It’s also the truth. Me and #7 talked about this earlier

Hearing you guys patronize this person and the way you’re so degrading legit makes me as a fat person want to kms. Right, but some people actually don’t have control or access to resources and even education about eating healthy, exercising, etc. Not to mention eating disorders, diabetes, endocrine diseases, metabolic disorders, etc. Regardless of that patronizing people does not help anybody want to do better. I also think that perhaps those people are replacing is very hard with will not lose weight. I just can’t believe that this is what people choose to bitch like this w their free time
