I feel the same way but cops are looked at as a group when in reality it’s regular people working a job that’s high risk and stressful and that causes them to act out of instinct or off bias and personality so it’s unfair to categorize them

Yeah but I’m just saying it’s understandable to be upset with them when you’re a person they have targeted and when your family was negatively affected (say someone in a rough area who’s only had bad experiences with police that made them feel like a bad person or a criminal)

That’s a good point but in that case the cop is most likely also from the bad area which could mean they are a bad person or have experienced bad treatment from people in the area just like how those people experience bad treatment from police

I’m just saying, it’s not usually a good thing to be interacting with police. Just like I said, like the school principal yelling at you for not having a hall pass sometimes. Isn’t it understandable not to see a cop car on the road and go “YAY now everyone can drive slow and be scared to overtake each other!!”

Yeah but laws exist for a reason. If you don’t like the laws, don’t hate the cops. Cops don’t create laws, they enforce them. Hate the politicians who create and change laws if that’s what you have a problem with. Also, yeah I get that you want to break rules and get away with it, but there’s a non zero chance that breaking traffic laws costs your life and/or the lives of others, so I’d argue that slowing down for a bit doesn’t hurt anybody. “Aw man, I get somewhere 2 minutes slower than before”

Plus the cops aren’t there only to patrol for speeding. Speeding is the LEAST severe thing they’re patrolling for. Doesn’t it piss you off when someone changes lanes without a blinker? I find myself VERY happy when someone gets pulled over for something like that. Their choice and they reap the consequences. Not my problem

Cops also rarely even pull anyone over unless someone is going whatever speed classifies as “reckless driving” in the state unless it’s a stuck up cop in a rural town. So if you don’t want to get pulled over, just go below the reckless driving speed. If cops had a vendetta against you for your speed, they can legally pull you over for going ANY speed (ie. 70.0001 in a 70) that’s not the exact speed limit. They don’t have it out for you, they’re just doing their jobs

For example I drove through rural ALABAMA at night going 85-90 when a car pulled into the highway behind me and kept pace. It eventually kinda got closer than I liked it to be in the lane next to me so I sped up a bit since the headlights were bright beside me. I glanced over and that’s when I noticed it was a cop car that had the “police” on the side only noticeable when light was on it. I just maintained my speed and he got off a couple exits later. They truly do not gaf unless you stand out

The problem with cops is the foundation of slave catching they were built on. They should rework the entire way policing happens based on behavioral science and and actual best practices for reducing criminality in a way that is positive. Like there’s been so much time. If someone wanted to reform policing they could have been making phases for it all along but that’s the thing. Ruthless pigs is what they are meant to be. Not protectors, enforcers. That’s how stakeholders want it.
