I guess my unpopular opinion of the night is relationship culture nowadays is very transactional, that’s the reason things don’t last. The romanticization of a first date, spending lavishly with money you don’t have, documenting everything. It’s inorganic

I once took a lady to a gem and geology museum to look at crystals. She was disappointed because she wanted me to pay for a meal instead of having me explain how minerals form under the earth. I laughed and blocked her.

I just think it should be about getting to know the other person, not what you can get from them

Hi OP, I too observed this and also studied it as a culture. Basically people today do not have the capacity to give back while they use the internet to max out their senses. Easy for them to find random people and also easy to join fringe groups that creates a toxic cycle of meet new people to be entertained and ghost when they are not entertained.

You have your high maintenance people and you don’t. If you know the person you are going after is high maintenance, can you really complain about it? You already knew this

Any relationship is about building something which has cooperation, sharing and caring, and staying when it’s hard. All those hallmarks are not present today. Because it isn’t present, any date is basically audition for 5 seconds of fame for what the person wants to be entertained with. Also they can hide what they want and basically lurk to get it because of the fringe group there are part of.
