People act like wanting to prevent major disabilities is the same eugenics as wanting specific skin and hair color. If you know your child is going to 100 percent get a passable disease you are selfish for having it. This is coming from someone disabled

I get it yes, BUT who is to say it won’t be abused and we are in some weird Gattaca world or Red Rising in 50 years.

Wow, impressive that you would speak for everyone. What’s the line for major vs minor disability?

I never said I spoke for everyone lmfao putting words in my mouth is interesting!! Something that greatly hinders your life imo

I’m not saying that there should be a law about it or anything cause that’s a very slippery slope but I do think it’s extremely selfish to have a child knowing it’ll never live a life without pain yk?

I think it is illegal in the US and Canada. You would have to go to one of three to four countries abroad that allows it and even then it’s risky or not really researched because it’s very controversial.

Genetic editing in embryos/zygotes/eggs. You would have to travel abroad and have a crap ton of money to do it rn.

Oh that’s not what I’m suggesting at all just genetic testing to make sure you aren’t passing on anything harmful to a child

Oh okay then that’s cool yeah. Genetic testing is not a bad idea. In fact it should be encouraged.

Sorry in this case you’re proposing testing prior to being pregnant? I’m perfectly fine with that.

Yes that’s what I mean! Sorry if it didn’t come off that way but I’m saying i think it’s especially important if you have a family history of certain diseases or illnesses that could be passed down to your child to double check before you plan to have one. In this case I’m talking about planned pregnancies aswelll
