If I had to guess whoever is wishing they grew up in poverty, I would say perhaps it’s because they are sick of others telling them they are lucky and privileged, or so that they can tell others that they are lucky and privileged compared to them, or maybe it’s so they can tell others “I had bad times earlier you wouldn’t last a day in my shoes, therefore I’m tougher than you” or maybe they want pity from people
