I want to go back to 1950s clothes and music. Not the societal norms, but MY GOODNESS did they know how to dress and the music was en pointe

Why tf do you guys glamorize these times? There’s nothing aesthetic about the 1950s. Most of the people in the 1950s couldn’t afford those clothes either because they couldn’t get a paying job because of the color of their skin or they were not allowed in those businesses. There’s nothing “sexy” about the 1950s. And for the music part, half of the people who made music didn’t even get the credit that they deserve again because of the color of their skin.

I did say not the societal norms, I just like the looks of the clothes, and the sounds of the music, nothing deeper than that

You're romanticizing the 1950s without acknowledging that the style and music came from people who were excluded, exploited, or erased. Context matters. 🤷🏾‍♀️So no I don't want the clothes or the music because the ppl who invented it were mistreated, beaten, lynched, mocked, and excluded all because they were a different race.

I forget I’m talking to ppl who probably will never experience racism or mistreatment because their skin color is different. I’m preaching to a brick wall. 🤦🏾‍♀️
