Yes. In history it’s been the Government using science to pick and choose who should breed in order to “purify” the population. Obviously a trend that became less popular after Nazi’s used it as fuel for prejudice. Now the term just gets lazily thrown around by Pro-Lifers when they hear about someone aborting a child with health risks.

But it’s the persons choice if they should abort or not. I don’t see that as eugenics I see it as somebody making a decision that’s right for them.

It would only be eugenics to abort if you know that the child will be a certain sex, have certain characteristics, etc. Like if you decide to abort a baby for being deformed that's technically eugenics but if you abort it just because then no it isn't

Yeah but you are still choosing to abort for having undesirable characteristics. You don't need to have someone else telling you to do it, that's just historically how it's been used in a negative way

“Undesirable characteristics” usually mean health risks that guarantee a life of suffering though. I kindly doubt anyone gets an abortion just because they’re having a boy and wanted a girl. It’s not exactly an easy decision.

Yeah but aborting for health risks is still eugenics by definition since you are choosing to abort since you don't want to have a child that has things you view as bad. Like plenty of people abort a child for having down syndrome but you can technically live a normal life with that. Also abortions for the sex of the child really only happen in places like china or other countries that value men above women
