People that genuinely care about stuff like that are just pretentious assholes fr. As long as we know what you’re talking about and you’re using the word right it’s fine Accents are great and lovely to listen too- it’s not a sign of unintelligence 🩷

Mine only occasionally slips out with certain words, usually I put a Y in words that don’t need them such as my name, David. The only time it comes out strong is when I’m either really angry or really drunk.

I feel like there are three linguistic layers here. The first is the accent, pronunciation of certain vowels, consonants, constructions. The second is vocabulary. And the third is the perceivable intended meaning of the communication. Because people don’t control where they grow up or how much vocab they have access to, they can really only be judged on their intentions

i think i have a pretty expanded vocabulary and i can definitely switch between my regular voice and my “siri” or my “customer service” voice. but certain words ALWAYSS gets me. like “jill’s” (a local bar) i always say “jeeels”
