my argument is that you can never guarantee what someone is like until you move in with them, and based on my experiences it’s not worth the hassle trying to find a decent roommate. nobody is decent

i just don’t trust people anymore in general. random roommates means there’s no emotional attachment to the housing situation, it makes conflict a lot easier to handle

i 100% agree with you. sometimes the people you know and move in with turn out to be worse and its harder to set boundaries. you can become friends with a random but most likely will not stay friends with the familiar person you choose
