Why do people get so surprised when you call our their microaggressions? I know they are just used to aggressive responses and are surprised by reflection. Am I really that unique in refusing to allow tolerate or promote them? Like I always just inquire

People aren’t surprised so much as they are annoyed. Nobody likes being policed about so-called “microaggressions”.

It’s not that they’re surprised, just mad they got caught lol. Racists and bigots rarely self identify as such, because they see nothing wrong with their behavior. Pointing out a microaggression forces them to acknowledge that not only do others not approve of their behavior, but that they are not as good of people as they want to pretend they are
