
yeah :( I've spent most of my life in WA, but pretty much the same thing is happening in Oregon. There's several places around my hometown where it's unrecognizable from a few years ago because they've torn down the trees and replaced affordable little houses on big plots of land with neighborhoods/condos that nobody can afford
and I hate it because nobody seems to even care. They're widening the roads to try to accommodate the increased traffic. They're redefining zoning laws in favor of the companies who want to build huge expensive suburbs in rural areas/the foothills. One town I lived near used to be a cute little country town where you could drive minutes away from the town center and have evergreen trees towering over both sides of the road. Now it's a concrete hellscape
