Tbh I wouldn’t have a child out of wedlock. Granted, idk much about marriage, but I think it comes with legal protections and benefits yall should seriously consider if yall choose to have children together. Yall don’t have to make a big deal out of it, just get a courthouse certificate

I mean thats a good step, sounds like he wants to step up and initiate the relationship to be strong for the future and for the child. I see no problems besides not being married yet

Personally I feel like I’m more protected without being married. I feel like being legally married would be similar to being trapped

I'm happily married and there is def benefits to it, but please don't get married just because you have a child. Get married because you love each other and see a future together.
