Im not very engaged with politics and some of you may attack me for it. But the amount of hate in this country sickens me. Too many beliefs are pushed on people regardless of whether they’re good or bad. Why is it so hard to simply treat people with humanity and basic rights and move on? There will always be hateful people and stuff but at least the bare minimum wouldn’t be on the floor.

Notice how when a republican/ conservative political figure dies in a brutal, horrific way, the republicans don’t riot, burn down buildings, and block off streets. We pray. We make social media posts. We seek justice in forms that don’t include violence and revenge? Strange.

sure, but do you get what I am trying to say? it’s horrible Kirk was murdered in front of his wife and kid but he has directly contributed to the violent authoritarian vibe we’re in right now and that’s why people don’t necessarily feel that mournful. also celebration of someone’s death (which has already happened) is not good but it isn’t equal to state sanctioned execution lol

do you not see how those two things are very different? (we also don’t know who killed him yet it could be a weirdo like John Lennon’s assassin). one is a random act of violence. the other is a state sanctioned act of violence. both are horrible but the first happens inevitably in any society with open access to guns (which Kirk really wanted actually) and the other is what happens in totalitarian hellscapes where free speech does not exist at all
