idk, making friends w fat people and getting comfortable talking with and seeing them and thinking about them seems like it would help. feels insane that i even have to say this but think of it like exposure therapy, overcoming your biases isn’t gonna happen overnight and you have to get good at recognizing them so you can continuously challenge them
maybe you just felt like your problem was getting worse bc you were confronting it instead of avoiding it? idk, i’d say it’s still worth it to keep interacting w fat people despite how much worse you may feel and at the same time as that start working through your own relationship to your body and food, bc it sounds really unhealthy if you’re projecting it onto other human beings
one last thing though: i’m autistic and sometimes i struggle w being apathetic to the people around me, but something that helps stir up my empathy is to imagine them going through their morning routine and imagining the thought they put into their outfits and makeup and them enjoying breakfast or some music in the morning. even if it’s fiction, the specificity and remembering their inTeriority (not inFeriority!) helps me humanize the people around me
