My dad talked to me and told me to “only take what I need and pass it on to my kids after”. Idk what that really means but im thinking its for vacations for my kids or any medical emergencies. He also told me after I get my first official job after college to start putting 200-500 dollars and invest in my 401k to add to the huge pool of money to keep it going for future generations. But i need to have kids to pass it onto or he wont let me have access to it 😭

Well first of all I have a fertility issue since I have PCOS and I have always been focused on school so I’ve never dated. I dont even know if there is a person out there that I would ever have kids with because thats a huge commitment and level of trust I need to have with someone so its going to be a challenge but Ive always wanted a family and the money is amazing

I think him requiring kids is kinda shitty tbh and my thing is yes it’s good to save money but you also should be able to enjoy your life. Bc if every generation has to live frugally to add to the money then who’s going to enjoy it? And how much money is actually needed

Thats what my mom was saying because whats the point if you dont get to enjoy it right now. She really hates how he saves and leaves no money left over most of the time so sometimes I need to use my own money to pay for things…I wont to be like my dad and save all his money rather than paying to bills but I’ll definitely add to the pool to keep it going.

He told me he started doing it because when his dad died his mom was left with nothing and so was all his kids(him and his brothers/sisters) because he didnt save anything so that made him determined to start thinking for the future
