I’m convinced most guys in our generation are lustful Mfs who have porn addictions and have unrealistic expectations for women. Always chasing for something “better”.

I think “porn addiction” is a terrible framing for why straight men act the way they act. I think it very strongly takes the stance that addiction is a personal moral failing. people do horrible things in addiction that they are culpable for and will have to grapple with that during their recovery, but framing addiction as this disgusting horrible moral failing for the act of being addicted is not a helpful way to look at it

on the other hand if you decide porn is somehow uniquely evil you just end up reinforcing normative ideas about how sex is immoral, dirty or taboo and that sex is somehow degrading or ruining for women, also not great. blaming “porn addiction” is a very simple scapegoat for a very complex set of societal issues and interactions that form everybody’s view of themselves, their friends loved ones and sexual partners as gendered beings and what gender means to their personhood and role in society

porn obviously plays a role in our socially constructed view of gender but so do many many other things and i think naming it as the sole factor and as if any interaction with videos of people fucking has this effect kind of misses the point and neuters any kind of helpful feminist critique that can be had on the topic
