Help me understand this one. My ex used to offer to pay for everything and used to say things like “I want to pay for all your stuff to make life easier anything you need just tell me” and when I mentioned I needed to buy my flight for back to school and asked him to come to he completely crashed out and started flipping on me about money

that just comes from him wanting to be a provider and give you everything you want but not quite being there yet to do that. so he is lashing out because he can’t do what he wants to do which is have money to pay for it all. which he is putting too much pressure on himself. it’s nice to think that but your partner should always understand your financial limits if necessary
