As an agnostic, I still somehow find myself avoiding ‘ungodly’ things… anyone else feel the same? I thought about hooking up recently and then realized that I’m supposed to be saving myself for my wife so I respectfully changed my mind 😭

It’s semi important to note a lot of religious rules weren’t just made up by some old man to control people, it was often written out of genuine safety. Ie: shellfish is banned in many religions bc it’s easy to undercook it and risk food poisoning (esp before we had germ theory and understood food borne illness). Same with pig, pigs provide nothing until death and were fed scraps, leading to disease for pig farmers and an early death. Perhaps they saw STIs and disease spread and decided sex=die

(And considering the Bible literally describes gonorrhea, and calls it an “issue of seed”, it’s not a big stretch)

This is very interesting stuff but if so we live in a time with tons of medical advances so religions wouldn’t matter

Sure, but it boils down to a religious call to have safe sex. The only form of safe sex that had was only have sex with your husband/wife. Now we have plenty of ways to have safe sex, and thus their moral dilemma can be partially resolved following this logic. Assuming they’re using barrier protection, getting tested, and a second form of birth control preferably
