Possibly Hot Take: Situationship is a stupid term used by emotionally immature people. You’re either dating or you’re not.

Hi OP, I too have seen this phenomenon of situationship. I see them hang out but there is an odd connection to be more than friends but still behave like friends. Basically there is some interest but not enough to see affection and caring. It is confusing. Seems how it works is for fun and each side seeks their dopamine high and when it isn’t there they drift away.

Although I agree with your sentiment. I have seen many relationships where they’re obviously more than friends, but they’re not mutually official with any label. Hence, they’re in a situationship

If it’s not mutually understood as a friends with benefits, then it’s not. It’s like going on what looks and feels like a date, but if it’s not mutually accepted as a date, it’s not a date

Yeah no if it looks like horse and walks like a horse it’s a horse. Just saying it isn’t doesn’t make it not

Some people act like they’re married, and they’re not married. How you perceive something is not how someone else perceives it and that’s okay

Yes sometimes people can have a bad day and not appear to be with each other but there are people that do live in a grey area intentionally. This grey area is becoming more common.
