Literally not true at all. Bodybuilding/powerlifting are insanely popular hobbies, especially ones that will dictate the rest of your other habits during the day if taken seriously enough

Not true! This can happen but more frequently it is someone just making the commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

Don’t you think I would have gone a less self deprecating route if that was the case? Comparing myself to a wolf or whatever

Just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it can’t be a sign of depression. I’m not saying it’s bad to work out but when someone is suddenly posting gym progress pics all the time when they weren’t before, it’s usually because they got their heart broken.

While I’m not disagreeing, that is a popular factor. But introduction to lifting from middle school/highschool sports also can create that same drive. Some people also just want to look better so they pick it up. Lifting/cardio, changing your body knowing you are the one putting in the work becomes extremely addictive and unfortunately also creates an unhealthy obsession with how you look which is usually why people post themselves. They want to get validation.

You definitely aren’t wrong, I just disagree that heart break is automatically why people are in the gym/make it their whole life
