I don’t think people who say this have been in that situation or seen someone else in that situation.

The amount of brain washing and true fear that goes with it is insane. Now I understand if it’s first thing right out the gate when they start that, but sometimes it’s a slow thing and they don’t even realize it till it’s really bad

Domestic violence is almost always paired with manipulation. After hitting their partner they tend to love bomb and/or threaten them if they tell anyone or try to leave. Abusers purposefully try to convince their victims that they either can’t leave or they’re a horrible person if they do leave
