Hot take but I don’t believe that there’s a way to make yourself appear attractive “for yourself”. Women will say “this makeup is for me, not him” but if you REALLY didn’t care about other people, how you look would be obsolete.

When I say “it’s for me” it’s bc I like partaking in the act of putting it on. It is a skill, and an art form, and I appreciate the fact I have become highly skilled in various techniques and methods within the form. But also I rarely wear it out in public so I suppose I’m not your target audience with this one

Valid statement must I say… I’m a girl & yes I want other to look at me and be like DAMN but also wearing makeup makes me feel confident and knowing I feel comfortable with who I am it empathizes & expresses who I am as a person

Thats like saying the main reason you buy shoes is so other people can think theyre cute. obviously you bought it bc you like them. people can still buy business casual shoes for work just like people can wear make up for different reasons

I love my original hair and I dyed it because I like it an unnatural color more. I did not dye my hair to attract others, no one has ever told me my hair would look better as a different color, I just think it’s cuter. Idc what anyone says about my hair, thus, a change for myself only.

yeah it’s just an art form lmao other people do not appreciate makeup so doing it for them is a waste of time. i do it bc it’s my preferred canvas. i get to wash it off at the end of the day so there’s no pressure to be perfect or get it right. like sand mandalas 😊

If you’re changing your outward appearance, something you don’t even get to see much but everyone else does, it IS for everyone else.

It’s perfectly ok to want outward validation, but changing your outward appearance is directly related to other people. It makes you feel confident because other people think you look better than if you didn’t do it. If you didn’t care you would feel fine looking however you woke up like. All of this is ok tho not saying it’s bad Just saying it really is all for other people at the end of the day

Yes totally but also what’s unfortunate in this world is you are treated different by your looks so we have this beauty standard that’s so high to achieve but I think each woman will have their own inputs

exactly that’s why it’s completely understandable. I just don’t like the claim that it’s “for myself” when it literally cannot be
