People of YikYak::: should I call out sick at my food service job on the 4th to work a job that’s guaranteed $225 that day? Thank you. Looking for answers primarily from Virginia folks but any input is appreciated

Depends how much trouble you’ll get in for lying and taking off a holiday

If the food service one doesn’t offer more than 225 then yes

I’ve never have done such a thing unless I am really sick. Also, do you need the money?

Me neither tbh, I also have a hard time being honest. The 225 would definitely help me out, I’m a server that keeps all my tips but recently I haven’t been getting scheduled as often as I was. Plus, I’m only working the breakfast/brunch shift and I’m wondering if I would even make any money in the morning? I’m not too familiar with how many people go out to eat during the day on 4th of July.

People may in the morning, but definitely not in the evening.

Oh no tons of people go out, especially if it’s a place that sells burgers of any kind. Even places like McDonald’s lines are wrapped around the building 😭
