Do you do j rock? (if so how hard are the lines and riffs to learn and do you think someone could realistically attempt them in a year from now if they started learning and taking lessons rn? also if so what are your fav songs)

It depends on how much you practice and what. I recommend the Hal Leonard bass book if you want to learn solo, but pretty much any music store will have lessons for $25-$35 for a half hour. Also, riffs and stuff again, depend on how much you practice and what you pick. Everything is difficult when it’s the first time you’re looking at it. I’d also recommend something that’s standard tuning with a simple repeating bass line. One of the first I learned was Feel Good Inc, and Bruised and Bloodied.

Thanks for the advice 🙏 I just swapped to many a music major, so I’m hoping I can take advantage of all the resources available to me now even though guitar isn’t my primary instrument (it’s 🎷). I’ll probably order the Hal Leonard book and try to work in the practice sessions either before or after I have to practice on sax so that I’ll be more focused

Do you have any advice on recording bass? I’m doing music tech as a class rn and I have a few song ideas, but since I can’t play it myself yet, I’d like to learn how to record someone playing

YouTube is a great friend too! And I’m sure there’s at least one or two people in your music class who have played. Best of luck and you’ve got this!!!

You can get mini Amps or cables to connect to a computer. I don’t do much recording so im not a big help, but I can reach out to a friend who does and see what I can do to help! Just shoot me a dm :)
