Common sense, kindness, love, watching the world to be a better place, helping your fellow man, etc. Some non-believers are better Christians than Christians.

As a Christian, many people do not need the threat of eternal damnation to be nice. In fact, if you only display kindness and compassion to avoid hell. You’ve completely missed the point.

My heart is filled by all kinds of friends, family, a loving partner, my cats, my hobbies, being kind to strangers, and so on. I was raised catholic but I just couldn’t get myself to fully believe in it, and it sort of made me hateful through homophobic beliefs. I couldn’t separate the two so I went the atheist route and developed my own morals

Love, empathy, and a strong moral compass. I believe in doing good because it is simply the right thing to do. I volunteer because others need my help. I’m kind because it brings others joy. I do my best to make the world a better place because I want it to be a better place.

I would rather live doing good because of my own choices as my personal duty. IMO you’re not a good person if you live by Christianity and do not sin just because God told you/the potential consequences instead of being a good person for the sake of being one. Be a good person, not because someone asked/told you to, but because you want to be.

before i knew God, my heart was empty, then it was a mess, then strangers filled it with evil. only the choice to know God could get my heart right. im convinced nothing else would have or ever could work right or keep it right.
