
women mature faster than men. men are more likely to hurt themselves while a woman they're attracted to is present. women outperform men in school. "queens" exist in insect societies but "kings" do not. in many cases of "alpha males" getting to mate with females in the wild is the male having to prove his capabilities before the female will mate with him. unmarried childless women are the happiest demographic while bachelor men are the least. if women were submissive we wouldve done it already
It’s mostly in birds. Phalaropes, for example. The males raise the young so they are small and drab, while the larger more colorful females display to impress them. In black coucals and jacanas the larger, more aggressive females maintain a territorial harem of males who raise the eggs.
In these birds, it’s the males providing the higher reproductive investment, because they are the ones raising the eggs. Thus they need to be more selective. And the sex raising the eggs usually needs more drab plumage to hide from predators, while the non-parental sex can afford to have more elaborate displays.
