Yk, my now ex-friend made me realize last night, through my 6 years of alcoholism I never once got racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc while blacked out. I've done/said HORRIBLE shit. But never that shit. Blacking out doesn't magically make one racist.

And now I'm like damn I've encountered SO MANY PPL who start spewing weird racist/homophobic shit while drunk af. And everyone kinda just writes it off as 'they just being drunk' like no ts is rooted in their core 😐

How tf did you get that Obviously it's not okay, as I said 'During my 6 year run', as in I got sober and have been repenting and took full responsibility I'm just sayin, if ppl start saying bigoted shit while they're drunk, it's not bc they're drunk, it's bc they're bigoted.

One of my friends of many many years came into my job, got shitfaced, and started beligirently harrassing our Hispanic staff members and threatening to call ICE and nonstop screaming homophobic and transphobic slurs and shi 😐 I had to put my hands on him Our other buddy Mac kept trying to defend him and I was like 'No. That's just who he is.'

Bc like me, Mac is an alcoholic. Unlike me, he's still going. And I'm like Mac, you've said and done some fucking horrible shit over the years while hella drunk. But never once have you EVER even made a joking remark like that. And he was like 🤯 'Woah you're right'
