AI is a tool that is encouraging people to accept false information as true, it is harming our planet, and it is plagiarizing art. Just because it is a new tool doesn’t mean it should be used. I understand the uses for it, and I understand it being helpful, but the pros could never outweigh the cons in my opinion. I will not teach with something I think is so harmful and unnecessary.
And Excel is a closed tool. It has its functions and yes, it does cut down on work. But it is not stealing intellectual property or feeding people lies that it passes off as true in order to validate people’s experiences. Excel is more comparable to a calculator. Not artificial intelligence.
AI is good when used for efficiency not a full replacement, it’s only bad for people that 100% rely on it. For example it’d be faster to have AI create a curriculum, and then manually review and correct/adjust it, than to write one from scratch. I work in tech and we have some employees that are still against using it too, but because of that they take 4-5x as long to produce the same work. They have the same thinking as you do, and whether it’s right or wrong it’s the direction the worlds going
So it’s pretty much adapt or fall behind. So I understand not wanting ti use it, but they’ll all future teachers will be, so it’ll be hard to maintain your job. Definitely a changing word, programmers that got into because they enjoy writing code are now not even writing code and miserable. Times are just changing :/
You can use AI the same way u use Excel, limited, which again comes down to how you teach others how to use AI and how to benefit from it. You can use Excel for all types of calculations and never touch a calculator again, doesn’t sound helpful if ur just relying on that.. which is why we’re taught how do math on paper and how to use Excel, so we have both. Same with AI.
