I know people who graduated with zero student debt, I’m talking Masters degree. They lived with their parents, scholarships, work study, part time jobs and they paid out of pocket for school. You didn’t do anything wrong. Those people just had that advantage of not having to pay bills because they lived with their parents and just focusing on work and school.
Well… there WERE other options. That being said, it seems like very few students are aware of those options or even have access to figuring all that out and making it possible. Not everyone is so lucky so you shouldn’t blame yourself because you’re right in the same boat as millions of others. I was lucky enough to receive those other options so I won’t have debt but it’s only thanks to my college professor mother who could help me figure out so much of those logistics.
To add onto that, look up as many scholarships as you can. There are soooooo many things you can qualify on online and at most, you’ll have to write a personal essay about your endeavors and answer some other questions. Apply to as many as possible regardless of the amount because they add up as you receive them. I’d get on it ASAP when you have a chance.
