Never said it was “random” or unmotivated, misogyny is a still huge problem even tho it feels like it should be a concept of the past, I was simply saying ppl tend to group in a entire gender over issues where it’s a small percentage of that gender doing it, i wasn’t referencing anything specific and there’s bad actions on both sides
i can see the point ur making. years ago i probably wouldve agreed. yes, bad ppl exist everywhere, that goes without saying. but to say that "both sides are bad" and that its only a "small percentage" of ppl makes it seem like you think they're equally bad & harmful... which is intellectually dishonest & divorced from reality.
I think ppl are taking my post the wrong way, I’m not downplaying anything and I won’t pretend Ik what it’s like to be a woman bec I’m not one. Literally all I’m saying is that we shouldn’t generalize an entire gender, I’m also not saying it’s a small percentage of men, most that I’ve met in college are horrible, and I know the harsh reality for a lot of women. I just wanted to express that we shouldn’t label “all” men or women bad, after hearing so many “I hate all men” and “women suck”..
Can’t speak for the first part but I feel like a big reason why more men don’t associate with feminism is that it’s seen as a radical view. It’s seen less as an equalising movement and more a put women over men movement and that will push some men that sympathise with women away from identifying with it even though they do side with equal rights.
