it’s a coping mechanism that helps people personally, but holds us back on a social level. if we focused on this reality rather than “the afterlife” that doesn’t exist maybe we could make this life bearable so people don’t need to cope so desperately

It’s the people that are too far in that I can’t take seriously - but I also understand some people like having some sort of faith so I can’t knock it if they aren’t messing with anyone else (I’m agnostic)

Good thing I’m a goofy goober that also happens to be religious, so I don’t need to be taken seriously

Right like I’m mildly spiritual so I have a little belief in manifesting, dreams holding some truth, etc. but it doesn’t rule my decision making or view of reality. I understand it’s just a fun little whimsical thing I’m adding to my perspective to keep myself hopeful. It also has nothing to do with my morality and I firmly believe you don’t need religion to be a moral and good person

Couldn’t have said it better myself. People that think they need mr floating man in the sky in order to be a good person blows my mind

Right. And I would rather not dedicate my entire life on earth, the only life I am 100% sure I’m going to live, to making a sky daddy happy enough to let me into his exclusive club. How much would that suck to limit this life only to find out it was the wrong deity, or that there’s no afterlife at all? I’m choosing to do what makes me and other people happy

just saw this comment under a post about a local church official charged for numerous child sexual charges. thought it was very relevant

be careful with law of attraction and manifestation! a lot of new age spirituality is religion and white supremacy just repackaged. like devine masculine and femenine… and i’ve seen multiple people say that law of attraction means people only get sexually assaulted because they invited it in and it matched their vibration. really sick stuff.

Oh my god?? That’s not me at all, promise 😭 it’s more so like “I had a dream about this person so maybe they were thinking of me” or “if I think really hard, maybe this event that’s out of my control will go in my favor”. That’s horrifying that people do that :(
