It’s so common to see too! Which really makes me mad. There’s no way you could possibly socialize your child as much as they are socialized at school. And, they won’t get bullied at home. They need to be bullied. People are mean. They say mean shit. You need to know how to deal with that before you’re an adult.

Usually the reasons I see are related to the bias in schools. But everyone has bias and at least schools have standards and ways to deal with it when a teacher is being too biased. If you’re skipping lessons in history or science that you just don’t believe in, your kid won’t know basic facts because “you don’t agree”. It’s so fucking selfish and dumb. It pisses me off.

Not all homeschoolers are what you think they are, ofc some are weird, but some public schoolers also are pretty weird

im glad you had the ability to go to high school, because many homeschooled kids do not public school has its issues, but at least the teachers have degrees in education, the staff need to be certified, and theres state funding that supports the children. average parents (its usually just the mother doing the homeschooling) just dont have the knowledge, infrastructure, education, or even capacity to be responsible for a human's education for 18 years. it takes a village and always has imo

It’s 2026, homeschooling has changed a lot. You saying there’s no good reason when you clearly dk much besides the typical mom schoolers is a shame though. If you’re only talking about those types of homeschoolers, then yeah that’s valid. But you’re not, you’re generalising heavily

give me some good reasons why one singular unqualified parent without the proper training, or education, and major gaps in their knowledge, who is to singlehandedly educate their (likely multiple) children for 18 years... knows better than a team of educators backed up with the education and the state infrastructure..?

You clearly did not comprehend what I said. I said those types of homeschoolers aren’t good, but those aren’t the only type of homeschoolers there are. That’s just the only thing you see

So, it’s not just the parent trying to “wing it”. There are so many curriculums out there and other homeschooling parents out there to help the parents along with homeschooling their children, written by former educators who had schooling themselves

sure, that isn't the only type of homeschooling, but i've yet to see any proof or evidence that homeschooled kids are on par developmentally with non homeschooled ones. do you have any objective proof that homeschooling is just as good or better?

Look it up and do some research. Maybe that will change your mind, maybe not. There’s even research that says homeschool kids excel in testing compared to public school ones. I got a 32 on my ACT on the first try. But honestly, an easy thought to keep in mind is just because you haven’t seen something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist
