Idrg that perspective much anymore tbh. Doesn’t feel like critical thinking to me to just throw your hands up and say I just don’t see the evidence. And tbh I think a lot of the time when people say that, whether about religion or any number of things, they often have put pretty minimal effort into steelmanning the case they’re dismissing

Yeah that doesn’t apply to me. I went to church as a child and my family is religious but as I grew up I started asking more and more questions that just never seemed to have answers.

Religious people seem to have more peace with their belief in an afterlife and reunion with loved ones, and their reassurance that there is a higher power looking after them. I wish I could have that sense of peace too but my brain literally won’t let me. I think too much about things to just let myself believe something that makes no logical sense to me.

Everybody who doesn’t find themselves to identify as being spiritual or religious “knows” about the concept. And would find themselves saying the exact same thing. That really doesn’t mean much of anything at all
