Is it uncomfortable when your friends mention their family's wealth? Like not even in a bragging way just like mentioning their plans to go to a vacation house. My friends always go silent and i feel judged despite being very humble

its just an internal jealousy thing. its no ones fault. im one of those that are like “i wish i had a vacation house,” but i never want to intentionally make my friends feel bad. I hope i dont but i wouldnt be surprised if my first reactions are like that

just stay humble and thats all u really can do. people need to learn to not envy the wealth of others (at least before yall 25)

I hate that people are jealous of me like that i feel so awful and it makes me want to pretend to not be as wealthy as i am to fit in. Like i cant talk about any hobbies without feeling judged because they are "rich ppl hobbies" like skiing and stuff like that

I mean, yeah that is rich people stuff. But also, its not like you can help it. I do think its worth limiting talking about excessive stuff, but on the other hand you should also just focus on people that dont just view you as a “rich person” but rather a person who is fortunate to come from wealth

Bruh my whole life is trying to downplay everything so ppl dont look at me crazy and constantly talk about my wealth 24/7. Like ppl talk about my wealth more than i bring it up. Even my 50 year old coworkers hate on me for it 😭

Oh no the only time i mention anything is like when its necessary for context or if they ask a question. And i make sure to overly state its family money and i didnt work a day for it if they start looking at me funny. It usually starts by saying like "oh im going skiing this weekend" and they say "oh where do you stay and afford gear thats so expensive" and then i have to explain and idk how

people (hopefully) outgrow their envy. it sucks but just give it time and have patience
