It’s not. The black community is traumatized and still victimized today. The day the world stops being racist to them and I mean African Americans specifically and tries to atone for the wrongs against them they have every right to feel as though they have to hide and defend themselves.
Do you really think bc of a few bad apples people should shelter their children from an ENTIRE RACE? Like I will never understand what the black community has gone through, and I will forever be disappointed and angry with my ancestors and fellow white people - but good luck forcing your children to avoid half the population and cause generational distain toward half the people they’re supposed to interact with in life. It isn’t logistical, it isn’t rational, and it’s considered racist.
I don't like the "few bad apples" framing tbh. Racism is all around us in many different forms and it's been instilled into all of us on some level. I just disagree with OP bc their child will have to interact with a ton of white adults eventually. As a parent you should want to your child to be accustomed to interacting with any culture.
I think OP is more saying that her children will be cautious because they’re black and the world doesn’t favor them for it. They will be stereotyped by all races but mainly look out for a certain demographic which it’s always been. Until things change in the world it’ll always be black and white
