many people do not have access to resources that could help them, even when they want to get better

Real. I understand having depression and anxiety, but I’ve seen people use it as an excuse over several years and REFUSE therapy or any treatment.

There's a lot of 'Ppl using mental illness as an excuse, just do better' shit going around, and THAT is not at all cool. But yes, it is on a mentally ill individual to get the proper treatment to improve and manage their symptoms! Ppl that neglect their health should be reminded to stay on top of it, especially if it's affecting others.

Nobody likes being confronted about anything drastic regarding their worldview and sense of self or identity

Mental illness is an explanation but shouldn’t be an excuse. Like if you know that you have ADD/ADHD then you need to figure out how you can be on time & get tasks done on time. NOT say “oh well I have x so I can’t do that and you’re wrong for saying that there’s way around it! Like I’ll cut you some slack ofc but adults still need to take the onus to figure out what works. Can’t miss every deadline & think it’s wrong too fire you is what I’m saying
