My guy best friend technically raped me and I’ve been having insane ptsd over it but I feel like I can’t blame him for it in some ways and I think I’m getting depressed. Anyways, how was your day?

okay assuming this is real, I’m gonna give the reasonable, correct response here cause no one else is: you were assaulted. please report this to your university, your local police department, and think about reaching out to an advocacy or survivors’ support group for additional help and advice. I’m really sorry this happened to you, and you are absolutely not to blame. your “best friend” decided that your autonomy and consent were worthless, and then assaulted you. it’s no one’s fault but his.

My guy best friend did the same thing… said he had a crush on me and then tried to hold my hand.. disgusting! I tell everyone he sexually assaulted me

Thanks for saying all that but I’m not going to report it because I don’t wanna get him in trouble. Also I don’t blame myself tbh, I just don’t blame him either I guess? It’s a really complicated mental situation

that’s your choice at the end of the day, but I would really encourage you to at least discuss this with someone you trust in real life before committing to that choice. one other thing to consider is that reporting him might prevent him from assaulting other women. men who don’t respect consent are scum, and you’re giving him far more credit than he deserves.

I promise it’s not just the trauma. It wasn’t a typical kind of rape I guess and technically he was trying to protect me

I would really encourage you to talk to a therapist or counselor of some kind. I’m not qualified to say anything more than I already have (which is like, college RA training advice at best). a professional would be a really valuable resource right now for you I think
