
in a country where a white man has done a s******g and was able to rebrand and make a better life for himself, it’s just interesting that the white people in this movie are responding so viscerally to a black people who had such an impulsive or curious thought at the curious and adventurous age of 15. they’d known this girl for years and take a 180 over one piece of information without truly inquiring about her or her mental health the way they do white men. especially r*chel being so judgmental
not the validate what the main female character could’ve done but i think the immediate judgement is telling on a more racial level rather than completely at a perpetrator level. i think conversations surrounding this movie have uncomfortable truths from all angles that some might not even want to touch on without feeling like they’re compromising their moral compass
