One thing I've noticed ppl who can't stop relapsing (alcohol) have in common is, at the end of the day, they always argue on behalf of alcohol. They're the ones who place ALL blame on themselves, and none on alcohol. Which is actually pushed by AA. Bad.

Like no, alcohol is a straight up neurotoxin that's inherently addictive af. And yes it's heavily pushed/encouraged in most societies. And yes, it is a tool used to keep people unaware/dull/complacent. Y'all can argue with me all y'all want. But I've never once relapsed, and all of you have. (You as in the addicts I'm referring to). So yeah, sure, just keep that same exact mindset/mentality. Bc that's certainly been working out for you 👍

Never been to AA, but I think it’s important to know how it affects your brain. So many things out there alter your brains chemistry, so it’s important to know which things alter it in a good way and which alter it in a bad way

Alcohol is evil, you aren't evil. Or maybe you are! Still means both you AND alcohol are evil.

Have you been in AA? I wouldn’t be surprised if the styles differ

I have been to many rooms. Anyone who says this is just fried. One of the main teachings of the book is about alcohol is but a symptom. The WHOLE thing is that it’s NOT the alcohol, it IS you. The real issue is us not whatever we do

You're literally confirming my post 😭 I asserted that AA teaches ppl to pm put all blame for everything on themselves, and not to blame alcohol or environmental factors at all pm (some groups are a bit looser w that stuff tho) For a few people this works. For many, it's actually quite harmful. If that mindset works for you, good! If it does not, then just open your eyes to reality and accept logic 😭 yes, a highly addictive neurotoxin deeply threaded through every aspect of most human societies

IS bound to cause problems. Thinking everyone else is so great and regulated with it while you're just a broken cog is a delusional teaching not at all based in reality. But like faith itself, if that belief is keeping you clean, keep believing it. If it's not keeping you clean, loosen the grip

What you’re saying sounds good, until that person gets sober and then they’re still filled with defects of character. Talk to any addict that has gotten sober but hasn’t done the work, all they did was go cold turkey. Ask them how their life is going LMAOO if you don’t do the work, putting down some drugs is not gonna save you twin .

Oh yeah, both things are true! You have to both accept that YOU are the problem, AND alcohol is the problem. You're both culprits. Recovery is the time to start really diving into why you drink, what needs work, honestly analyzing your character defects, etc!! You run into BIG problems if you only choose one. If you only view yourself as the problem, bad. If you view yourself as perfect and blameless, BAD. Recovery takes A LOT of work. I'm just a very, very anti-AA addict

You anti AA ppl really are so annoying but I get it bro. It’s cool to hate on what’s popular. I’m not a big book thumper or hardcore AA fan but hating on some shit that has gotten millions of people sober tried tested and true is just insane lol

Hate on what's popular? More like I was nonstop horrified at the meetings and teachings. Genuinely seems, to me, like it's crafted to purposefully get people to relapse from time to time. AA is, in my opinion, the worst recovery program. It's unfortunate that it's the main and often only accessible program. The meetings are dope and helpful (community), but the teachings are..... Dharma is GOATED tho. I really wish Dharma was more accessible ☹️

To each their own. But in my personal experience, I only know of one person who followed the AA route that remained sober All other successful sobers ik have either done their own sobriety track, or followed a different program 🤷‍♀️

I'm not some omniscient sage of wisdom, I don't have 10 years under my belt or anything. I'm 3 years deep. I've been following dharma since detox and rehab, but there aren't any dharma meetings in my area. So I've kinda been doing my own uniquely tailored thing based on lil patches of teachings from various programs. I attended A LOT of AA in the first year, and have only attended AA/NA meetings irl. I stay in contact with most ppl from rehab, my detox has a whole group chat. They all did AA-

Not a single one hasn't relapsed. And every single sober person I've met since getting sober has relapsed at least once. They all did AA. It's just frustrating and deeply upsetting, I want them to find peace and health 😭💔 it breaks my heart Maybe that's why I view AA in such a bad light

My brother-in-law's dad achieved stable sobriety through AA, so I'll give it mad points for that!! It also guided him to cut off his children and friends and flee to a remote part of the Pennsylvania mountains but a win is a win ig 😭👍

I have a friend who did rehab. They felt the same way u did abt AA and dharma. They came home recently, and they relapsed not even 6 months out of rehab. Maybe it’s how AA works where you are, every meeting is different. But fuck it whatever works for u. I’m not currently in AA cuz I don’t need it, but the community is and will always have my gratitude.

Yeah it's not recovery itself or ALL programs I have beef with, it's legit just specifically AA/NA and how it's run and such Honestly I do think my area has ESPECIALLY foul meetings and rehabs/detoxes. I hear very different things from ppl who attend meetings elsewhere! Like allllll the meetings in a 1-hour radius are super strict, dull, and not at all helpful I disagree with the one-size fits all methodology of AA, for instance. Like everyone, and everyone's addiction parasite is unique.

Dawg even the rehabs/detoxes in my area are pretty evil. They legit just hook ppl on other things so they don't have to deal with them, then kick them to the curb with more problems Like my sister went to rehab with a 1 year long, developing adderall problem. She's now on year 6 of methadone, and isn't even sober off all else. Bc the methadone keeps her in the realm, and she's always so in despair about having no money bc she spends it all on methadone I just have trust issues in the systems 😭

I was fortunate enough to have a very caring psych who visited me in the hospital and ensured I was placed in a good detox. Bc she knows how bad most of them are. Btw, congrats on making it this deep!!! I'm super proud of you, that's freaking awesome and inspiring 🥳🥳❤️
