for real!!! I was so sick for weeks last semester and the wellness center on campus tested me for Covid, strep, and the flu and they were all negative so I kept doing OTC meds but my fever wouldn’t break even with those (103° fever so not like a minor fever either) so then I had to go to an actual urgent care and get a mono test per the wellness centers advice

and the doctor was being nice to me up until my mono test came back negative and then she starting treating me like I was wasting her time. She essentially just told me to leave and maybe try OTC medicine, which she knew I had been taking, and when I asked what to do because it didn’t break my fever at all (I had a high temp when I was in there) she just said to stay hydrated and essentially sent me home in a hurry because I didn’t have mono.

It’s so stupid they basically told me to leave and use otc meds when they knew I had been taking it. Because oh no the young person certainly couldn’t know anything about their own body

it’s so aggravating! they’re thinking just because we aren’t terminal or anything that we haven’t taken OTC meds. Like of course I didn’t just come here first…?! wtf?!

Even when you tell them you have taken the otc, they have that inflection in there voice like they can’t believe you’re even there and that you’re lying
