when he was talking about the pilot thing, it was a DEI conversation because aviation company’s stated they were going to hire more black pilots and women. charlie kirk simply did not want this due to the fact that those people would be DEI candidates and qualifications would not matter when being hired!
one of the purposes of dei was to ensure that the majority of jobs don’t all just go to the same demographic (white men) despite the pool of qualified candidates being diverse. just helped to ensure fair opportunity for all. people still discriminate in the workplace believe it or not
DEI is when two people have identical qualifications, but you choose the minority. It's not about choosing the minority even if they're less qualified. If there's a black person and a white person, but the white person meets the criteria better, they'll choose the white person. It's really that simple.
do you have a source i can look at? if that is their statement, it doesn’t actually specify that poc and women will be unqualified; that’s just an assumption because it wasn’t defined clearly. i could just as easily believe that they obviously meant qualified candidates, because who in their right mind would want to hire people who don’t know what they’re doing? to me it just appears that they’ll focus on hiring others over white men.
i never mentioned qualified over unqualified. my whole point was to say the DEI doesn’t solely look at qualifications which may raise concerns to people. we don’t really know if these companies are looking at their qualifications or if they’re just hiring people due to race/gender and to make their company look more diverse
i understand what you’re getting at, because that’s definitely something companies would do, unfortunately. but it’s wrong to just automatically jump to the conclusion that a pilot who is black isn’t qualified and was a diversity hire. that’s an inherently racist association to have. no one questions if a white guy is able to do his job. DEI’s whole point is to ensure that there’s equal opportunity for all ethnicities. logically, it shouldn’t have any effect on a company’s hiring requirements
