Can we normalize not having to provide references for jobs and just give people a chance?? Do hiring managers not realize that sometimes people come from a toxic work environment and just need to start fresh?

Why the fuck does my last job get to decide if I get a job somewhere else??👹just do a fucking background check, I have a clean record I just don’t tolerate disrespect from a place that’s supposed to be PROFESSIONAL. If I get asked one more fucking time for a 3rd interview with 5 references I’m gonna flip that table I don’t care anymore😭

Depends on what firm you’re trying to work for. If you’re trying to work for a very competitive corporation, having good references differentiates yourself from other interviewees. Companies often aren’t trying to provide you with a job; they are trying to find the best person to make them the most profit. What benefit does HR have giving you a chance (if you came a toxic place) versus someone else who already has good experience? It’s unfortunate, but it’s the sad reality of capitalism.

Well… if everyone did that you still wouldn’t get hired anyways lol. In fact the pool would be even bigger

Flip side is they don’t know you. You could be a flaming nutjob. You think they’re just taking your word for it? Hell no. I’d never hire some angry disgruntled person anyway. There are two to seven sides to every story.

Alternatively, just lie.
